Here's my rough guide - that is my quick thoughts - of what's to do around and about Torridge House Cottages

Gardens - RHS Rosemoor (1.5 mile), Gnome Reserve, Hartland Abbey, Clovelly Court, Docton Mill

Walks - Tarka Trail, Peppercombe, Coastal Path, circular walks around Torrington, Torrington Commons, green lanes

Food - from seafood shacks to fine dining by way of country pubs, tea rooms, cafes, restaurants, to the newly opened Lions Coffee House and wine bar in Torrington. Plus real seaside fish and chips, Torridge Inn Thai Dine and take aways.

Fishing Villages - Appledore, Clovelly.

Fishing - salmon in the Torridge; coarse, various lakes nearby; trout fisheries, sea fishing; bass from riversides including Fremmington Quay

Market Towns like Hatherleigh

Seaside towns - Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Croyde

Devon Wildlife Reserves - Halson and Meeth Quarry (10mins drive each)

Outdoor Activities - surfing, surf school at Westward Ho!, golf - nearest in Torrington (4 miles), horse riding in forest and on Dartmoor, cycling (Tarka Trail, 2.5 miles), Skern Lodge for water and other activities, and the new water place in Bideford and skittles in our village hall!

Forests - Eggesford and others

Potteries from our neighbouring activity Tarka Pottery to potters selling their wares

National Trust - Arlington Court, The Forge near Okehampton, the Lutyen's Castle Drogo on Dartmoor, Lydford Gorge.

Trains - from the enthusiasts' on-going Tarka Railway in Torrington to the Woody Bay Trains.

Dingles Fun Fare living Museum, Morpurgo's War Horse Country, Dartington Crystal, Big Sheep, Milky Way, Eaglescott Aerodrome for flying experiences

Most are quite short distance away, both in time and mileage

Order and easy reading to follow together with travel times and costs where applicable.
